ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd, 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. Morgan and her sisters Jeni and Jeri were raised in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan was an athlete of multiple sports throughout her youth, but she only discovered soccer at 14. She then joined the Cypress Elite club team, winning the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship and coming in third place in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan continued to work at Diamond Bar High School, where she worked on her soccer abilities. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) chose Morgan as an All-American Athlete. She also participated in the Olympic Development Division's regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scorer from the beginning of her season. She was instrumental in getting the team into the NCAA Tournament all four years and made it into the second round twice. Morgan was one of four finalists for the Honda Sports Award and the first student from her college to make the list of Hermann Trophy finalists. Morgan graduated in 2010 with the third highest number of goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan played soccer at both the collegiate and national level throughout her college. Morgan was injured to her ACL in her first year as a Berkeley player. She was unable train with the U.S. Under-20 Women's Soccer team until April of 2008. In Mexico, Morgan scored her first international soccer goal at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Her team earned gold and she made her debut international goal at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Tournament in Mexico. One of them was winning goals against Italy, which resulted in the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player in the team and was the one to lead it to victory against France. Though the U.S. ultimately lost to Japan, Morgan became the first player to score a goal and an assist during a final World Cup game.
